The George Washington Program Board is pleased to announce that American pop/rock band Maroon 5 and newly announced special guest, Fitz & The Tantrums will perform live at the Charles E. Smith Center (600 22nd St, NW) on November 13, 2009. Doors are at 8:00 PM. This is the largest concert to be held at GW since last February's PB concert featuring Jason Mraz and Ben Folds.

Tickets are $30 for students and $33 for faculty, staff & alumni. Tickets are on sale now. All tickets must be purchased in person at the Marvin Center Ticketmaster Box Office (ground floor), and may purchase a maximum of six tickets, for themselves and five others (STUDENT I.D. + 5) with the presentation of their student i.d.

A mix of polished pop, rock and neo-soul appeal has made Maroon 5 one of the most popular bands of this decade. Songs such as "This Love," "She Will Be Loved," and "Makes Me Wonder" all topped music charts worldwide, and have propelled the group to sell more than 10 million albums. Maroon 5 has been together since 2002 and has recorded other great hits such as "Harder to Breath," "Wake Up Call," and "Sunday Morning." In 2005, the group won a Grammy for Best New Artist, and by 2007, they completed an American tour withThe Hives and continue on a world tour with New Found Glory.

Fitz & The Tantrums soul-drenched songs come from his debut EP, "Songs For A Break Up: Volume 1," and is equal parts Motown to 70s AM. With back-to-back blue-eyed soul jams oozing with sweeping choruses and sultry backing vocals, Spin.com simply pronounced Fitz "a confident crooner," and declared the songs, "Breakin' the Chains of Love," and "Don't Gotta Work It Out," as "two stone-legit, would-be standards."
